so, if you didnt like my last post or if dont want read about someone elses problems, leave immediately!
From one Houstonian to another, maybe I can give you some encouragement. Of coarse like most of us on the forum I didn't plan for college after high school. No plan for the future. All I had was my girlfriend (wordly ) at the time, and a job selling pagers at her father's friends shop. I thought I had it made. My own apartment, new truck, and even my own cell phone (This was '93 people). Life was pretty good. I was even Df'd around this time. I didn't care though. Then two years later everything falls apart. I got fired (I was skimming some money from the profits). Oh well, I at least have my girl. Well, of coarse her dad found out about what I was doing, and pretty much after that my girlfriend dumped me, and to top it off, it was for somebody I thought was a friend. Damn!. Even to this day, If I ever see that sorry son of a b@#ch, I am going to tear his little short...err ah, back to the story. I was a wreck. Oh about 2 months after all this happened, I loose my apartment. Life was sucking. I had to beg my parents to shack me up for a while. I started taking stupid jobs. I peddled stupid toys (pyramid scam) on the street. Which by the way I was pretty good at with my witness background . Then I took some jobs at equipment rental places. One day I finally got tired of my life, and said enough is enough. I bit the bullet, asked my dad to co-sign for me to go to tech school. I took drafting classes in high school, and had always been pretty artistic. Well, asking my dad for the co-sign was not easy. He was still a dub at the time. He finally caved in, signed the loans, and I graduated from tech school in May '96. 7 years later I am still in my profession.
My advise, sit down with yourself. Ask yourself what your talents, and interest are. Ask yourself, what do you want out of life? Write down your thoughts and your goals. Make sacrifices. Educate yourself. It is all worth it in the end. Remember that this is your life. You make what ever you want out of it. It could be your paradise, or your hell.
Just my 2,
GF
P.S. Welcome back to Houston. Check the meet-up for H-town. There are about 20 registered.

this article by author john le carre is in todays times.
it makes for interesting reading coming as it does from the master of the spy story himself.. please note that his views are not neccessarily my views, i present this article simply as food for thought.. englishman.. .
the united states of america has gone mad.. .
"no evidence was shown so far!".
Let me see, his government admitting that they sends checks to the families of palestinians who blow themselves up and take a few israelies with them to start. Do you really want to sit there and tell me that Saddam is not a threat to that part of the world, if not also the Anglo-Americans, if he was to get his hands on WMD?

Here we go again. More Bush and America bashing. More "Bush is an idiot". You guys just don't get it. My god has your utopian "Watchtower Paradise on Earth" "Peace on Earth" mentality not let you see the reality of the world.
"I want world peace. I want sanity. I want our president, as unlikely as it sounds, to do the right thing; I want him to back the heck off of Iraq and focus on the real problems America is facing"
You want him to do the right thing. What is the right thing in your mind? You want him to back off Iraq. Last I checked Iraq was still funding terrorism. As long as somebody funds terrorism there will be no peace on earth. On and by the way, what are the problems America is Facing?
"war on nations who simply are trying to make themselves self-sufficient"
Which nation that is trying to make itself self-suffient are we trying to go to war with? Uh... Mexico, Turkey, Iran. I suggest you check some FACTS first before making such an assumption.
Look I wish peace on earth just like the next person, BUT AS LONG AS THERE ARE ROGUE NATIONS AND DICTATORS THAT SUPPORT TERRORISM THERE WILL BE NO PEACE. Wishing is one thing, the reality is another.
LOL at AlanF's comment
this is bad.

WELCOME STEFANIE!!!!
Houston, Tx myself. There are plenty on the board representing the great state of Texas.
i thought jws were discouraged from subjects such as witchcraft, wizardry, magic etc.
i've not asked yet, but i wonder why she feels it's all right to go and see a "demon" picture!
and her dad (elder) has read all the hp books!
I saw something about this topic in one of the "clean and free of apostates" boards. It was a pretty hot topic. Some were saying that you can't see it, while others were saying it is up to your conscience. Someone even metioned that some elder even arranged a 'Lord of the Rings viewing party". Now I don't know about what is "approved viewing" now, but I know that if I even suggested to see a movie like that growing up, I would have gotten a big lecture on "Satan's world of entertainment".
Man, I still trying to catch up on the movies I wasn't aloud to view during the 80's.
have you noticed how certain trends in the congregation are often started by one person, and then it spreads to most of the congregation.
for example, in my congregation years ago, just about everyone had a dodge airies.
that was an inexpensive popular car in the service then.
1990 Mitsubishi Galant. There were 5 people in our congo. that drove them to the meetings. 2 elders had them. 1 MS, and 2 wanna bee's. I always wondered what was up with that. Oh also, I went to a Spanish Congo. growing up. I know that jw's frown on people with beards , so I knew that no self respecting JayHo grew one. It was O.k. to have a mustache though. Well, when the P.O. decided to shave his (This after the Circuit Overseer's visit), within 1 week, the rest of the elders, and ms's followed suit. I remember asking my dad "why did they shave their mustache, their is nothing in the bible about that". He turns around and sais, "I don't know, but if that is what it takes to be an elder, I'll never make. I'll never shave mine ".
